ridecount is Closing

We are deeply sorry to announce that ridecount will be closing as of 31st December 2025.

This decision has not been made lightly, and we want to be completely transparent with you about why we've reached this difficult conclusion.

Why are we closing?

ridecount has been a labor of love for us as theme park enthusiasts for nearly two decades. We launched this site in November 2006, and incredibly, we're approaching our 19th birthday. Throughout all these years, ridecount has never raised any money - it has always been a pure passion project, run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts.

However, several key factors have made it impossible for us to continue:

1. Legal Complexity

Complications in online laws such as GDPR and the UK Online Safety Act have made navigating and maintaining a website incredibly difficult and risky. As a small hobby project, we simply don't have the legal resources to continually keep up with the ever-growing web of regulations.

2. Technical Maintenance Burden

The platform requires constant updates to its code framework and security patches. While we've maintained it diligently for nearly 19 years, we can no longer keep up with the cadence of work required to keep the site safe and secure for our users.

3. Sustainability

As volunteers with full-time jobs and other commitments, the time required to maintain ridecount properly has become unsustainable. We'd rather close responsibly than let the site deteriorate.

What you need to do

Please note that we are not able to export your "Ridecount Lists" created, but you can screenshot or save the page in your browser for any of these you wish to keep.

Thank You

We cannot express enough gratitude to everyone who has been part of the ridecount journey:

Tom (Burbs) - Your tireless work keeping our database up to date and dealing with user reports has been absolutely invaluable. The quality of ridecount's data is a testament to your dedication.

Ian - Your exceptional design work and UX expertise transformed ridecount into something beautiful and intuitive. Thank you for making the site a pleasure to use.

To all our team members past and present, and to every single user who logged their trips, suggested improvements, and built this community - thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Alternative Services

While we're closing, the theme park tracking community is alive and well! We encourage you to check out these alternative services:

Coaster Cloud – Smart all-in-one theme park companion with live wait times, ride logging across 1,000+ parks, and deep stats on every visit.
Auto Ridecount – Free iOS & Android app that automatically detects rides at supported parks, logs your laps for the day, and totals up your most-ridden coasters.
Coaster Count – Hardcore credit counter with a huge global coaster catalogue, perfect for planning trips and comparing detailed stats with fellow enthusiasts.
Captain Coaster – Community-driven ranking site where you rate, review and build top lists, helping shape global roller coaster rankings.
Log Ride App – Huge theme-park database and tracker that logs your trips across thousands of parks, haunts and midways, with attraction history and ride stats.

Each of these services offers their own unique features and communities. We're confident you'll find a new home for tracking your theme park adventures.
